Plans underway
for BART connection to Oakland Airport
The number of
passengers flying from the Oakland Airport is expected to double
by 2020. The proposed 3-mile connection between the BART Coliseum
Station and the Oakland Airport will provide a seamless and convenient
link for travelers. Three alternatives are currently being considered.
The project
is also part of a community-wide plan to spark new interest and
appropriate development in the Hegenberger Corridor and Coliseum
area. Construction is already underway for two new hotels on Hegenberger,
a 17-acre high tech development, a basketball sports center and
Coliseum BART Station security and access improvements.
