But Will Never Tell You
1. REFRESH: Contented people take time to look back, refresh their memories and share what brought them together.
Especially when times are difficult, they're able to lean back and rely on those old memories as their foundation, and glue themselves back together emotionally.
2. DATE NIGHTS: Keep dating each other. Even if life seems too busy, meet at the end of the evening for something light and easy, like viewing your favorite sitcom together (record it if necessary), or playing a board game or a fun game of cards.
3. HAVE FUN: Young couples tend to have fun while dating, then get married and life gets all serious. Lighten up. Maybe head to Yahoo Games (off main Yahoo.com site) and join in any number of online games. Or you might even still be able to go to a local rental shop and rent an Xbox and a few games.
4. FORGET: There's no need to always hang on to the bad feelings that can come up during an argument. Sometimes it pays to actively forget. Be the first to apologize and make up. Try it!
5. SPACE: Give each other a little space. Truth is, you either trust someone or you dont. Get on with life, though. All of us need time alone, and time with our other friends. Be sure to give and take your fair share of space.
6. DISAGREE: Agree that its okay to disagree on some issues, and leave it at that. There's no need to create a new religion or political movement just to appease your own ego. You dont HAVE to agree on everything. And you wont. And that's okay.
7. MEMORIES: Make a conscious effort to make some together. Enjoy special moments, special anniversary dates and events. No need to be elaborate.
For example, maybe you enjoyed watching a hot air balloon race one spring day. The next year, you might schedule time to watch it again. Make it an annual event. Collect postcards with balloons on them. Over time, it becomes a theme.
So dont just sit back and sulk. Take short steps to improve your relationships and let life's problems magically pass by while you hold on to what really matters.
Improving your relationships requires looking through Love's Window, learning what to do, and having the courage to do it. If you follow these simple tried and true tips, you can dramatically improve the quality of your relationships.
